Scotland said it’s “Better Together”

In the historic referendum on the question of whether Scotland should be an independent country.

The people of Scotland, voted against secession from the United Kingdom.

My hope is that in the aftermath of the two campaigns, a stronger and more unified Scotland emerges.

Scotland deserves that much at least.

How has the Web changed things for parents? – a video from Switched On Families

image

This video was posted recently on Youtube and on the Guardian website here.

This was originally created as part of the Virgin Media group’s actions to support consumers, particularly in the use of the web and digital media.

So they created the Switched On Families resource:

Switched on Families is about giving parents clear, honest, useful (and sometimes even fun) support to make sure your family gets the best from the web.

…and covers information for parents on all the big digital issues like who to trust, digital addition, what to share, and how to play nice online. This information is filtered by child development stages and also features videos with families talking about the choices they’re making online.

Well done to Virgin Media for making this available.

[Disclosure – I’m not a Virgin Media customer – just a parent appreciating this helpful resource]

Celebrating Chinese New Year – in memory of Lily Song

Today we celebrated Chinese New Year, a fairly simple meal, of chicken stir fry and noodles, and other typical Chinese starters and sides.

The girls have covered Chinese New Year as part of their school work, and were excited to be celebrating the event at home.  They even had a lucky red envelope each. Smile

It seemed fitting occasion too, the mark the passing of my Grandmother Lily Song.  Who passed away peacefully last week, after living well into her nineties and having enjoyed a richly blessed and adventurous life.  She will be enjoying new things now with her Lord Jesus.
